This is it; we're almost there! Only about 50 miles to Downtown Boston!
As we leave Camp 3 on the last leg of the journey, it is a quiet ride through the
country as we prepare to enter Massachusetts. Today's route is filled with narrow,
wining, back roads that take us through some beautiful and less traveled parts of
the state.
Once we leave the quiet countryside and hit city streets, we have to take extra caution.
The plan is to enter Boston from the Watertown area along as much of the Charles
River as possible, where we will pass some of the greatest institutions of higher
learning in the country. The bike path takes us by Harvard, Boston University, and
MIT, as well as by the Hatch Shell where many summer concerts take place.
The second to last step in today's journey is Rider Holding at City H all Plaza (also
know as Government Center). After we check in, grab snacks and our Victory shirts,
Riders may be strolling across the street to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market to take
in some of the sites and visiting the Holocaust Memorial, if there's a chance.
For a glorious end to our journey, Closing Ceremonies will be held on Charles Street
between the beautiful Boston Public Garden and the historic Boston Common, America's
oldest public park.
We'd love to see you there if you can make it! Best to arrive by 3 p.m. The
closing ceremony stage will be located at the corner of Charles and Beacon in Boston
Commons. The closing ceremonies will be over by 6 p.m. To meet us at the Parade
Grounds in the Boston Commons following Closing Ceremonies, we'll be at the "B"
in the "Meet and Greet" area.
